YOUR JOURNEY AS AN IMC WORKING STUDENT ENGINEER

This is your chance to gain broad, hands-on tech industry experience while working part-time alongside your studies. Over the course of several months, you’ll rotate through three different engineering teams – IMC’s Data Platform team, our Systems Platform team, and our Network Engineering team. Your time investment with each team will depend on your specific skills and interests, which will be assessed during an interview.

Each rotation will involve you in real-world projects and tasks – from supporting on smaller, 2-3 week assignments to leading complex, long-running projects. You’ll also play an important operational role, helping to keep our systems up and running and ready to trade. What happens next is up to you: the hands-on nature of this role is designed to give you a clear sense of the kind of work you’re best suited to, whether it’s developing the internal cloud or building world-class data platforms. For those who excel, there may be the prospect of a full-time engineering role with IMC post-graduation.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

• A commitment to 20 hours per week alongside your university studies
• Enrolment at a nearby university in the Netherlands (this is an on-site role)
• Available for at least 7 months before graduating
• Academic background in computer science, engineering, physical sciences, or other practical field ideally with hands-on experience of computing systems
• Proficiency in Python (Java, Go, or other languages are a plus)
• Knowledge of (and ideally experience with) Linux operating systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English
• Natural problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing environments
